Her Former LifeFox News
Monica, (not pictured) is a former financial adviser who had never been able to see the world. She hadn't even been outside of America. Now she has managed to scratch 9 countries off her bucket list thanks to Miss Travel, a website that allows you to hook up with people who are willing to pay for your holidays in exchange for dates.
How The Site Changed Her LifeFox News
Monica says she found the website by accident, when she was reading an article about weird websites. She said, “I came across Miss Travel in an article about weird websites. I thought, ‘Yes, that sounds weird, but also kind of cool.'" The now international traveler claims the site is full of men who are willing to sponsor your travels. "This website attracts very successful men who don’t have time to date in the normal way, so this allows them to accelerate the whole thing," she added.
They're Traveling TooFox News
Monica states that since these men are going on trips anyway, and have massive banks accounts, they have the financial means to pay for a companion's expenses. “They’re going on trips anyway, and they can afford to search through profiles and afford to bring one they like with them," she says.
But Is The Site Legit?Fox News
In the beginning, she feared the site was full of scammers and low lives whose interest would differ greatly from hers. She was afraid that once she got to the desired destination, these men would either not show up, or bail. Monica says, “Initially I thought, ‘Is this legitimate? Is this a thing?’ But I signed up anyway, started chatting to a few guys, and really got into the idea."

The TemptationFox News
Monica says she decided to quit her job at wealth management firm Merril Lynch in 2014, and that's when she decided to join Miss Travel and take a chance. Her date took care of the bills, and even paid for the flights. They stayed at a 5 star hotel, and enjoyed cocktails on the beach while they got to know each other, just like a regular date. He bought her a few souvenirs and as if that wasn't enough, he also bought her some silver jewelry. But none of that was enough to sweep her off her feet.
They Didn't ConnectFox News
Monica claims the date went well, but she didn't feel connected to her date, so there was no sex involved. She adds, “Maybe some people will do that, we’re all human — but it wasn’t for me, not with that first guy." She explains why the date didn't work out in the end, and said, “It wasn’t awkward either — it was just like a regular date which didn’t really sizzle, except you were on a Caribbean island. Sex was never mentioned. We had fun but there was no sexual connection. He was like a friend. We’re still in touch.”
Second DateFox News
Monica emphasizes the fact that going on trips to meet potential suitors is very similar to dating locally. The only difference is that there's a lot of travelling involved. She decided to give the site another chance, and started chatting with a man who bought her tickets to San Francisco, but there was no spark either. But that wasn't the case when she met her third date, a 28-year-old Italian business owner.

Monica says she didn't have to push her new lifestyle aside, as she still travels a lot. “The way I see it, I found a guy I’m really serious about through online dating — with a lot of travel. What would most girls prefer?" she explains.
They Go For Dinner And Other LuxuriesFox News
She claims that dating abroad has many benefits that outweigh the pain of being so far away from the one you love. “Going for dinner in their hometown, or watching the sunset on a clifftop restaurant with a guy who wanted to fly you to the other side of the world to be with him? It’s exponentially more romantic than anything a guy back home could do for you," she adds.
It's Just More EnjoyableFox News
Being apart also heightens your senses, and adds spice into your romantic life. She claims there's no other feeling like getting to know your partner in these exotic locations, while also having the opportunity to be really spontaneous. Something you just couldn't pull when dating in your hometown. Monica says she's able to focus on work, (she's working for a mobile app startup) when she's back home, and jet-set across the world with her boyfriend when she's in the mood for a break. In a way, she has managed to get the best of both worlds.
